About Us

Salt Yard group was set up by Sanja Morris and Simon Mullins in 2005 with the opening of Salt Yard in Fitzrovia. 

With backgrounds in the public sector and advertising respectively, they relied on their knowledge of eating out around Spain and Italy (and New York) – more than on any professional know-how – to inspire their concept of a small, friendly restaurant serving dishes to share, alongside good wine and by staff who had a personal touch.

Ben Tish joined as Head Chef in 2006 following a classical training in some of London and the UK’s best restaurants and hotels and swiftly went on to become Executive Chef.

Prior to joining the Salt Yard Group, Ben spent much of his career working with Jason Atherton at Maze and with Stephen Terry at London restaurants including Coast, One Lawn Terrace and Frith Street Restaurant, as well as working at The Ritz. Ben also spent time at The Crinan Hotel in Scotland, where he was awarded Best Gastro Pub in Scotland, and Best Newcomer from the Good Food Guide.



At Salt Yard Group our mission is simple – to provide delicious food in a relaxed environment where the staff excel in friendliness, efficiency and product knowledge.

Training is the key to everything we do – Front of House we hold weekly training sessions on food, drink and service standards.

We nurture and train our staff tirelessly in order for them to excel and develop – because staff progression is vital for us. Within the company we have Sous Chefs that started off their career as Kitchen Porters and Front of House managers that started out as Runners.
